Luke Gooding

Dr Luke Gooding is a Research Associate at the Stockholm Environment Institute, University of York. His research focuses on the governance of sustainability transitions, with an emphasis on energy systems, regional industrial change, and just transition policy. Luke’s work explores how communities, industries, and governments can collaborate to shape equitable low-carbon futures through innovation, policy integration, and place-based development. He has contributed to research on smart local energy systems, retrofit supply chains, and pathways for green industrial transformation. Drawing on interdisciplinary approaches from political science, geography, and sustainability studies, his work advances understanding of how governance frameworks can support inclusive and effective climate transitions.
