Simone Abram

Simone Abram is Executive Director of Durham Energy Institute, a multidisciplinary research institute that works across the university and with external organisations to develop and promote research for energy decarbonisation. DEI’s network of over 60 researchers brings unique perspectives and innovative expertise together to accelerate the just energy transition. 

Prof Abram is Professor in Anthropology at Durham University, and holds the Ørsted Chair in Green Energy Systems. She leads the UK Network for Diversity, Equity and Inclusion in Energy Research (EDI+) and chairs the County Durham Partnership board for energy and environment. She is a member of the Norwegian Research Centre for Socially Inclusive Energy Transitions, and has been Visiting Professor in Tromsø, Bergen and Agder, and Oslo. Prof Abram’s 100 peer-reviewed books and articles include number of interdisciplinary publications.
