Stephen Evans
Stephen Evans is Professor in Practice at Durham University’s School of Government and International Affairs. His previous appointment at Durham was as Director for Policy Engagement, working with external stakeholders on enhancing the impact of academic research on government policy-making. Before joining Durham, Stephen had a full career in the U.K. Diplomatic Service which culminated in successive postings as High Commissioner to Sri Lanka, Ambassador to Afghanistan and High Commissioner to Bangladesh. This was followed by a four-year secondment to NATO as Assistant Secretary General for Operations. These varied roles enabled Stephen to work in complex multilateral domains on strengthening stability, security, prosperity and environmental protection. He will be drawing on this experience in the context of the North Sea University Partnership.
